Children of non-resident Tamils visit Ramanthapuram district under ‘vergalai thedi’ scheme

Non-resident Tamils tour temples and monuments in Ramanathapuram district, promoting cultural heritage among children from various countries.
About 38 non-resident Tamils from various countries scheme were taken on a tour around various temples, historical monuments and buildings in Ramanathapuram district on Friday under ‘Vergalai Thedi’ (reaching your roots) scheme.
As many as 200 children of non-resident Tamils from various countries are selected every year for touring around the State to give them an idea about the culture and heritage of Tamil Nadu. ‘
As two groups of students have already completed their tours, the third group comprising 38 students from 10 countries – Uganda, Norway, South Africa, Mauritius, Malaysia, Sri Lanka, Australia, Canada, U.S., and Myanmar – visited Ramanathapuram district.
Collector Simranjeet Singh Kahlon explained the students about the tour and its importance.
