Telangana to launch new building permission system with AI, AR, blockchain, and mobile app features for faster processing.
Telangana could soon migrate to a simpler and more efficient building permission system than TG-bPASS (Telangana Building Permission Approval and Self-Certification System), which could further reduce the time taken for application process.
Leveraging technological innovations and artificial intelligence, the Municipal Administration & Urban Development department is soft launching the new system on December 3. After training and debugging, the official launch of the new software has been tentatively set for February 1. It will be first piloted in the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation, after which it will be applied as a common platform for the entire state, officials informed.
The new system is incorporated with what is termed as the ‘India’s fastest drawing scrutiny system’, by which the maximum time taken for scrutiny of any plan is less than five minutes as against the 20-30 days earlier.
For individual houses which are categorised as non-multistoreyed buildings, the drawing scrutiny would be done in less than a minute. This leads to drastic reduction in submission time from weeks to hours and savings in overall processing time by five to seven days.
One more user-friendly feature is the use of artificial intelligence to answer user queries. Applicants and officials both could approach the generative AI chatbot to seek clarifications if any.
“One more improvement is one interface for the entire State. Earlier, we had different web portals for various kinds of applications, which all have been brought together under a unified portal,” informed an official.
Augmented reality will hep the citizens with immersive 3D visualisations, and the enforcers with assessment of compliance with building regulations. The system uses blockchain technology for verifiable application tracking and enhances transparency, officials said.

The Karnataka government has drafted a comprehensive master plan for the integrated development of Kukke Subrahmanya temple, the State’s highest revenue-generating temple managed by the Hindu Religious Institutions and Charitable Endowments Department. The redevelopment initiative is estimated to cost around ₹254 crore and aims to enhance infrastructure and facilities for devotees.
