Senior Congress leader criticizes BJP government for failing to fulfill promises, questions its commitment to farmers' welfare.
Senior Congress leader and MLC T. Jeevan Reddy lambasted the BJP-led Central government, accusing it of failing to fulfil its promises while levelling baseless allegations against the Congress-led Telangana government. He asserted that the BJP has no moral authority to speak on issues concerning the farming community, as it has never genuinely worked for their welfare.
Addressing a press conference at Gandhi Bhavan on Monday, Mr. Reddy defended the welfare initiatives of the Congress government led by Revanth Reddy in Telangana and questioned the BJP’s policies. “It has been a year since the Congress government assumed office in the State, and already a charge-sheet has been released against us. This is nothing but an attempt to secure the BJP’s political survival,” he said.
He highlighted the State government’s innovative welfare measures, including a ₹500 bonus for farmers cultivating sanna vadlu (fine variety rice), which he claimed no other State has implemented. He also mentioned the provision of free electricity subsidies to one crore families and the distribution of ₹110 crore worth of free bus tickets to women as evidence of the Congress government’s commitment to public welfare.
Criticising the BJP, Mr. Reddy pointed to its failure to make the Minimum Support Price (MSP) for farm produce a legal guarantee. “The Centre has yet to respond to farmers’ demands for legal recognition of MSP. While the BJP focuses on Ambani and Adani, we are implementing welfare schemes for farmers and extending financial assistance where it is most needed,” he remarked.
Mr. Reddy further questioned the BJP’s claims of economic reform, alleging that black money has increased during its tenure despite promises to eradicate it.

The Karnataka government has drafted a comprehensive master plan for the integrated development of Kukke Subrahmanya temple, the State’s highest revenue-generating temple managed by the Hindu Religious Institutions and Charitable Endowments Department. The redevelopment initiative is estimated to cost around ₹254 crore and aims to enhance infrastructure and facilities for devotees.
