The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has fielded R. Krishnaiah as its candidate for the by-election to Rajya Sabha from Andhra Pradesh. He is scheduled to file his nomination on December 10.
BJP State organising secretary N. Madhukar and Adoni MLA V. Parthasarathi presented the membership card and B-Form to Mr. Krishna, who resigned as YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) MP in September four years in advance of the completion of his tenure, citing challenges in strengthening the Backward Classes (BC) movement.
BJP Minority Morcha State President Sk. Baji and the party’s NTR district president A. Sriram and others were present.
Mr. Krishnaiah, who is also the national president of the BCs’ Welfare Association, became MLA (TDP) from LB Nagar constituency in 2014 and led the BC struggle for reservations.
He thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah and other leaders for recognising his services and nominating him to the Rajya Sabha, while promising to strive for the development of the BC communities.
