BJP issues show-cause notice to rebel leader Basanagouda Patil Yatnal for public attacks on party leadership, deadline set.
The BJP Central Disciplinary Committee on Sunday (December 1, 2024)has issued a show-cause notice to “rebel” leader and senior MLA Basanagouda Patil Yatnal for allegedly violating party’s discipline by indulging in public attacks at party leadership.
The letter dated December 1, 2024, and signed by Committee Member Secretary Om Pathak has given a 10-day deadline for Mr. Yatnal, who previously served as Union Minister of State, to show cause as to why disciplinary action should not be taken against him.
This is being seen as a setback to the group of rebel leaders who are in Delhi now under the leadership of Mr. Yatnal to meet the party central leadership on various issues including that of submitting an initial report on the Waqf row.
It may be noted that Mr. Yatnal has been publicly attacking BJP Veteran leader B.S. Yediyurappa and his son B.Y. Vijayendra, who is also party State president, for some time. He has particularly accused them of colluding with Congress leaders such as Deputy Chief Minister D. K. Shivakumar.
What had caused concern for the party leadership was that Mr. Yatnal, an outspoken leader, had become a rallying point for several other disgruntled leaders. This group has also embarked upon a parallel campaign against Waqf row.
Incidentally, the rebel leaders including Mr. Yatnal have reached Delhi on Sunday night to meet the party central leaders. Among other issues, they were planning to submit their preliminary report on the Waqf campaign. Their visit was preceded by that of Mr. Vijayendra who has reportedly drawn the attention of the central leaders on dissidence activities in the State.
The show-cause notice says: “Your continuing tirade against the party state leadership and your defiance of party directives, and making public pronouncements and stance in contravention of party’s official stand on all matters of political and public importance has been reported in media and different party forums.”

The Karnataka government has drafted a comprehensive master plan for the integrated development of Kukke Subrahmanya temple, the State’s highest revenue-generating temple managed by the Hindu Religious Institutions and Charitable Endowments Department. The redevelopment initiative is estimated to cost around ₹254 crore and aims to enhance infrastructure and facilities for devotees.
