Union Minister Bandi Sanjay criticizes JAC meeting on delimitation, accuses Opposition of spreading false narratives for political gain.
Criticising the Joint Action Committee (JAC) meeting on delimitation organised by the DMK in Chennai on Saturday, Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay accused the ‘Opposition parties’ of inciting regional hatred by making baseless allegations of injustice to South India.
Speaking to the media in Karimnagar on Saturday, Mr. Sanjay alleged that the constituents of the JAC were spreading false propaganda against the Modi government. The Central government has not made any decision on delimitation, he said, slamming the Opposition parties for spreading false narratives with selfish political interests. He said, “The delimitation process would not lead to a reduction in Parliamentary seats in South India, a fact already clarified by Union Ministers Amit Shah and Rajnath Singh in Parliament.”
Taking a dig at the parties that participated in the JAC meeting on delimitation in Chennai, Mr Sanjay alleged that these parties are facing grave charges of corruption. “The scam-tainted BRS is working alongside the Congress party to absolve itself from various scams during its 10-year rule in the past,” he flayed.
“The ₹1,000-crore liquor scam has rattled the DMK dispensation in Tamil Nadu,” he charged, alleging that widespread resentment is prevailing against the ruling Congress dispensation in Telangana for its misrule. Mr. Sanjay said, “No matter what conspiracies are hatched, the BJP’s influence will continue to grow in the South. The BJP would come to power in Telangana as well.”
Responding to a query, he said, “I am not in the race for the BJP State president post. The party national leadership and Prime Minister Narendra Modi entrusted me with ministerial responsibilities.” Earlier in the day, Mr Sanjay inspected the rain-affected villages including Chamanpally in Karimnagar district. He urged the State government to take immediate measures to disburse compensation to the farmers who suffered crop losses due to Friday night’s unseasonal rains and hailstorms in the erstwhile Karimnagar, Adilabad and Medak districts.

Vizag may host ICC Women’s World Cup this year, says ACA president Kesineni Sivanath. As of now, it is speculative, and an official communication from the BCCI is awaited, he says, adding that the Port City may also be the venue of a Men’s ODI in December. Mr. Sivanath says they have decided to continue the Andhra Premier League (APL) this year to nurture local talent.
