Aspirants told to take on UPSC exam with clarity, courage and confidence

The Hindu in association with the Shankar IAS Academy and PSNA College of Engineering and Technology launched UPSC Aspirants’ Club on Thursday.
Launching the club at the college in Dindigul, the Chief Conservator of Forests (Dindigul Circle) R Kanchana said students aspiring to pursue UPSC (Union Public Service Commission) examinations, should have confidence in themselves first. After passing the UPSC exam, the selected candidate has a choice of getting into 22 services, which include administration (IAS), police (IPS), foreign service(IFS), forest (IFS), besides postal, railways, customs, taxes (IRS).
The senior IFS officer said that engineering graduates had the advantage of having higher mental calibre and suggested to the students to take on the UPSC with clarity, courage and confidence. “Start preparing now. With proper planning, preparation and perseverance, you can crack the exam,” she said.
Shankar IAS Academy Madurai Branch Head Arjun Nathan spoke on the UPSC syllabus and preparation. College trustee Surya Raghuram, Deputy Registrar J. Vijay and senior faculty members participated. Principal D. Vasudevan presided. The Hindu (Madurai) Manager S. Narayanan donated a set of books worth ₹35,000, brought out by The Hindu, to the college library.
