APCC president Y.S. Sharmila questions NDA leaders' silence on Visakhapatnam Steel Plant privatization during Modi's visit.
Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) president Y.S. Sharmila on Friday questioned the NDA leaders over their silence even after Prime Minister Narendra Modi failed to provide any assurance to protect Visakhapatnam Steel Plant (VSP) for privatisation, in his address during his recent visit to Visakhapatnam.
Addressing a press conference at the party office here on Friday, Ms. Sharmila said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi did not mention about any bifurcation promises during his speech, while laying foundation stone for development works in Visakhapatnam on January 8 (Wednesday).
“There was no mention about Special Category Status (SCS), Visakhapatnam Steel Plant (VSP) privatisation issue, status of Kadapa Steel Factory, package for Uttarandhra and Rayalaseema or others. Why are the TDP and JSP leaders remained silent?” she questioned.
Instead of praising the Prime Minister, the NDA leaders should demand that the BJP fulfil the promises, she added.
Ms Sharmila said that while the TDP and JSP have direct alliance with the BJP, the YSRCP also has a secret alliance with the national party.
She said that when Union Home Minister Amit Shah had made ‘derogatory’ comments against Dr B.R. Ambedkar in Parliament, the TDP, JSP and the YSRCP leaders have condemned them. Do these party leaders remember that they have won with votes of Dalits, she questioned.
Ms. Sharmila said that former Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy was always against the BJP and its ideology to create disputes in the name of religion. Being son of Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, how can you support the BJP? she questioned YSRCP president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy.
The Criminal Investigation Department (CID), probing the death of contractor, Sachin Panchal, who allegedly ended his life in Bidar on December 26 last year, arrested five persons, including the prime accused Rajkumar Kapnoor, a former member of the Kalaburagi Mahanagara Palike, and reportedly a follower of Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Minister, Priyank Kharge, on Friday.
