Ratan Lal Kataria resigned from the Union Cabinet ahead of 2021 reshuffle
Following the spree of evictions of former Ministers and their families from government bungalows in the past few weeks, another ex-Minister, Rattan Lal Kataria, was likely to be evicted on Wednesday, according to Housing and Urban Affairs Ministry officials on Tuesday.
Mr. Kataria, a BJP MP from Ambala in Haryana, resigned from the Cabinet ahead of the reshuffle in 2021. He had continued to reside at 2, Tughlak Lane, which had been allotted to him while he held the charge of Minister of State for Jal Shakti and Social Justice and Empowerment. The Directorate of Estates under the Housing and Urban Affairs Ministry planned to send a team, along with police, to the bungalow on Wednesday to vacate it, according to two sources.
Recently, the directorate has also initiated eviction proceedings against the Congress for a Chanakyapuri house allotted to it as an office space. Last month, the directorate had carried out eviction from 12, Janpath of the family of late Union Minister Ram Vilas Paswan, who had lived at the address for over three decades. The family had continued to stay at the residence following Paswan’s death in 2020.
