
Annamalai urges Kishan Reddy to drop tungsten mining project in Madurai

BJP State president K. Annamalai on Monday (December 9, 2024) said he has written to Union Minister of Coal and Mines G. Kishan Reddy and also spoken to him over the phone regarding the protests against the tungsten mining project in Madurai district of Tamil Nadu, and requested him to drop the proposal.

Mr. Reddy assured Mr. Annamalai that he would consider the request to withdraw the project, the latter said in a social media post.
Mr. Annamalai claimed that the work on the project commenced only based on the details provided by the DMK government and alleged that it was “enacting a drama” owing to public protests over the issue.
The Narendra Modi government at the Centre would not take up any project which is against the interest of farmers, he said.
