Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin emphasizes the historical significance of recent archaeological findings dating back to 4th millennium BCE.
With the fresh archaeological finding that introduction of iron in the modern day Tamil Nadu went back to the first quarter of the 4th millennium BCE, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin on Thursday said what was mentioned in ancient Tamil literature was now becoming “scientifically proven history”.
“Our contentions on Tamil, Tamil land and Tamil Nadu were not literary references. They were not said for politics. They were all based on historical evidences. It is the duty of the DMK government to point out that they were accepted by experts from across the world”, Mr. Stalin said.
During the release of the report ‘Antiquity of Iron: Recent radiometric dates from Tamil Nadu’ authored by K. Rajan and R. Sivanantham, Mr. Stalin contended: “The history of the Indian subcontinent can no longer overlook Tamil Nadu. In fact, it must begin here!”
Emphasing that the “Iron Age began on Tamil soil”, Mr. Stalin said archaeological findings were sent to experts abroad for their comments. Speaking at the Anna Centenary Library auditorium, the CM said those who criticised that literature would not amount to historical facts, were taken aback by the fresh findings.
“Such archaeological findings were a turning point not only for the history of Tamil Nadu but to the entire Indian subcontinent,” Mr. Stalin said and further encouraged Minister Thangam Thennarasu (holding archaeology portfolio) for more such research studies. Mr. Stalin said that the archaeological findings have to be taken to the children.
