Start Ups Academy will have a pool of mentors from different domains
Startups in this region that are looking for mentoring to scale up can now avail of guidance free of cost.
Start Ups Academy, a non-profit organisation, launched here on Tuesday will support startups with guidance and mentoring.
G. Karthikeyan, founder president of the organisation, told presspersons the Start Ups Academy would have a pool of mentors from different domains. Startups that need support can log in to www.thestartupsacademy.org and apply for mentoring and guidance. Similarly, events would be organised frequently to share information on the schemes and incentives offered by the government.
“There is a knowledge gap. Our endeavour is to fill that gap,” he said. Coimbatore has nearly 650 funded startups and two unicorns. Both, the Central and State governments, are offering tremendous support to startups. “Coimbatore is ranked 12th in the country in startup eco system. The startups here need mentoring and guidance,” he said.
Inaugurating the organisation, social entrepreneur Arunachalam Muruganantham said that at present, business ventures need only ideas. There is a lot of capital that is available. However, the startups need to know in detail about clauses to look out for before signing for investment.
Mr. Karthikeyan said the organisation, which will guide, enable, and mentor startups, will organise an event called Startup Dhuru on April 30 and recognise three startups from this region, a woman entrepreneur, and a scaled up venture. Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will be the chief guest for the event.
Eligible startups can register on the website or dial 96 149 40910 or 0422 4529255.
Capt. Brijesh Chowta, Dakshina Kannada MP, on Saturday urged Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman to facilitate speeding up of ongoing critical infrastructure works in the region, including Mangaluru-Bengaluru NH 75 widening, establishment of Indian Coast Guard Academy, and merger of Konkan Railway Corporation with the Indian Railways.
