State-of-the-art multi-purpose vehicles designed to promote government welfare schemes and marketing facilities for tribal communities in agency areas.
Two state-of-the-art multi-purpose vehicles are being designed to promote government welfare schemes and raise awareness about the marketing facilities for tribal communities living in the agency areas of Saluru, Gummalakshmipuram, Kurupam, Palakonda, and other areas, said Parvatipuram Collector A. Shyam Prasad on Thursday.
The vehicles sanctioned by Mercedes Benz under their corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative, following a suggestion from the Niti Aayog. These vehicles will be equipped with advanced audio-video facilities.
Speaking to The Hindu, on Thursday, Mr Shyam Prasad said, “The vehicles will be delivered soon for use in the district. The government is already plying ‘Giri Bazaar’ vehicles to provide essential goods at reasonable prices to tribal communities, preventing exploitation by traders and middlemen selling counterfeit products at high rates.” Additionally, the marketing and other departments are ensuring that branded products like rice, pulses, and edible oil are sold directly to the tribal communities at their doorsteps, which has been well-received.
The new multi-purpose vehicles, along with the ‘Giri Bazaar’ vehicles will be used to promote awareness on health, education and welfare schemes. Minister for Tribal Welfare Gummadi Sandhya Rani lauded the initiative of the Parvatipuram district administration for the innovative use of vehicles to promote and support government welfare schemes.
