In an emotional speech after winning the best dramatic movie actor Globe for “The Brutalist,” Brody also noted Chapman’s “own resilience.” It was perhaps a nod to her divorce from Harvey Weinstein after the studio mogul became the notorious face of the Me Too movement.
“To my beautiful and amazing partner Georgina, your generosity of spirit, your own resilience, your immense creativity are a daily reminder of how to be,” Brody said. “I would not be standing here before you if it wasn’t for you. There was a time not too long ago that I felt that this may never be a moment afforded to me again, so thank you.”
Brody, 51, and Chapman, a 48-year-old fashion designer, have been “romantically linked” since 2019, People reported. She split from Weinstein, with whom she has two children, in 2017 after he faced numerous accusations of sexual assault or misconduct, according to the magazine. The divorce was finalized in 2021.
Weinstein, 72, was found guilty of rape in New York in 2020 and sentenced to 23 years in prison, but that conviction was eventually overturned. He is still serving a sentence for rape in a Los Angeles case. He faces a retrial in New York this year.
