Birds showing up on areal routes not their own is a likelihood during cyclones. Cyclone Fengal should be having its checklist of such birds. Sundar Palanivelu, a birder and resident of Kamakotti Nagar in Pallikarani has had a peek into that list. It was a cursory glimpse, but more valuable than many a planned, extended birdwatching exercise. He spotted an Amur Falcon on November 28, 2024 and he had not stirred from home. Sundar has an impressive list of “cyclone avian list”, avian species being buffeted about on account of the cyclone and showing up in spaces usually not associated with them.
