Visakhapatnam district administration cancels land allotment to Hayagreeva Farms due to violations, plans public benefit use.
The Visakhapatnam district administration has taken possession of the land property at Survey No. 92/3 at Yendada under Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) limits, in response to the latest memo issued by the Revenue Department of Andhra Pradesh, directing cancellation of the allotment of 12.51 acres of land to the Hayagreeva Farms & Developers.
The land allotment was cancelled and the property was taken back after a long legal and administrative battle.
Signboards have been put up on the said land, saying “This property belongs to the government. Encroachers will be punished.”
The district administration is believed to be mulling over several ideas to ensure that the property is used for public benefit, as per the recommendations made by the government in the memorandum on Monday.
Jana Sena Party corporator at GVMC Peethala Murthy Yadav, among the two petitioners on the land, said that he met Visakhapatnam Collector M.N. Harendhira Prasad after the government issued the memo related to the cancellation of the allotment of land to the Hayagreeva. The Collector has been requested to put the stretch of land in the 22(A) category and cancel any title deeds of the land sold earlier.
“The buildings built on the land appear to be residential villas rather than cottages for the elderly and orphans. As per our findings, 15 sale deeds for 16790 square yards and 16 agreements for another 16067 square yards, totalling 32857 square yards, have been made. Of the total allotted 12.51 acres (60,548.40 square yards), 32,857 square yards have been sold out,” Mr. Murthy Yadav alleged.
Mr. Harendhira Prasad told The Hindu that the government’s order was to keep the seized property in the 22 (A). “Once the property is handed over to the government, it should be put in the 22(A) category,” he said.
