Speaking on the occasion, he said, “The foundation stone has been laid by the seers of Sringeri mutt for the reconstruction of Someswara temple in Somasila. The State government is likely to bring a new policy on the leasing of temples’ properties across cities and towns. A meeting will be held soon under the leadership of Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu to make a decision on this matter.”
As per the directions from the Chief Minister, the key decisions will be taken on many issues such as preservation of temples’ assets, lease of buildings and rooms, utilisation of income for the maintenance of temples, organisation of festivals, and other important aspects in all temples of the State except Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD).
Mr. Ramanarayana Reddy further said that the renovation of Venugopala Swamy temple will also begin soon in the presence of the seers. “Endowment Department’s chief engineers have already inspected the temple and prepared a master plan. As soon as the temple governing body approves the plan, the tender process and work will be commence,” the Minister said.
“Although Venugopala Swamy temple has huge assets, its revenue has decreased due to mismanagement and negligence during the previous government. We are making sincere efforts to restore its former glory,” he added.
