Andhra Pradesh Assembly Speaker criticizes YSRCP legislators' behavior, refers false news report to Privileges Committee for action.
Andhra Pradesh Assembly Speaker Chintakayala Ayyanna Patrudu expressed displeasure over the behaviour of the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) legislators in the House on Monday.
As soon as the House assembled on Tuesday, the Speaker, while referring to the behaviour of the YSRCP legislators during Governor S. Abdul Nazeer’s address to the joint session of the State Legislature, said that it was inappropriate.
Referring to YSRCP president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, Mr. Ayyanna Patrudu said someone who had served as the Chief Minister ‘forgot dignity and acted inappropriately’.
“Instead of controlling the behaviour of his party members, Mr. Jagan Mohan Reddy was laughing. Former Minister and YSRCP senior leader Botcha Satyanarayana sat just next to him, but did not point out the wrongdoing. Such incidents should not repeat,” the Speaker said and urged Mr. Jagan Mohan Reddy to ‘act responsibly’.
Mr. Ayyanna Patrudu on Tuesday decided to refer a report published in Sakshi, a vernacular daily, to the Privileges Committee.
On Tuesday, the TDP Nandikotkur MLA G. Jayasurya brought it to the notice of the Speaker and the House that the Sakshi carried a news report that crores of rupees were wasted even before the training session for newly elected MLAs was conducted.
The MLA said it was distressing that the newspaper belonging to a former Chief Minister (Mr. Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy) was ‘dishonouring the respect that democracy places on the Assembly’ by writing such articles, he said, and urged the Speaker to refer the matter to the Privileges Committee.
