The Health department has administered COVID-19 vaccine to 57,025 children in the 12-14 years age group, an official release issued by the office of Health Minister Veena George here on Tuesday said.
Ms. George denied reports that only 751 children in the said group had been vaccinated and said that the actual numbers vaccinated are available in the Cowin portal for all to see
The State has already administered the first dose of COVID-19 vaccine to 100% of the eligible population above 18 years of age, while 87% have received both doses.
In the 15-17 years age group, 79% have received the first dose and 47%, the second dose. Moreover, the precaution dose has been given to 41% of the eligible population above 60 years
Ms. George said that the pace of children’s vaccination was slow as most students are writing their annual exams. Once the exams get over, the Health and Education department together will launch a special drive to vaccinate children against COVID, she added
