HYDERABAD
The State government has commenced the disbursement (direct benefit transfer) of the third tranche of investment support given under the Rythu Bharosa scheme for the ongoing Rabi season on Monday. About ₹707.55 crore is being transferred to over 8.66 lakh farmers with a total landholding of over 11.79 lakh acres.
According to officials, farmers having landholding of more than one acre and up to two acres would get the support in the third tranche. They stated that along with the funds released in the first two tranches, the total amount released for Rythu Bharosa in three tranches is over ₹1,834 crore now.
In the first tranche released on January 21, nearly ₹569 crore was credited to the bank accounts of about 4.42 lakh farmers with a landholding of over 9.48 lakh acres in 577 pilot villages. In the second tranche, ₹557.54 crore was released to over 17.03 lakh farmers with a landholding of over 9.29 lakh acres, all holding below one-acre of land.
Put together, the government has released ₹1,834.09 crore in three tranches to over 30.11 lakh farmers with a total landholding of nearly 30.57 lakh acres.
Meanwhile, Minister for Agriculture Tummala Nageswara Rao said in a statement that the Congress government had so far spend ₹55,256 crore for farmers’ welfare, including ₹40,000 crore credited to the bank accounts of farmers directly in the form of crop loan waiver, investment support, crop bonus and others.
He alleged that because of the implementation of loan waiver in four years from 2014, the farmers had to bear ₹2,630 crore interest burden and in the second loan waiver of the BRS government announced in 2018, the farmers were burdened with an additional ₹8,315 crore interest.
