The controversy over the resignation of former Home Minister M. Sucharita blew over after a meeting with Chief Minister Y.S Jagan Mohan Reddy on Wednesday.
Ms. Sucharita later told reporters that she would continue to be in the party and work for the party in the year 2024. Party sources said that the former Home Minister had been assured of a suitable post with a protocol equivalent to Cabinet rank.
The issue began when Ms. Sucharita, upset after her name was dropped from the list of Cabinet Ministers, said that she was deeply pained by the turn of events. Her daughter told reporters that the former Home Minister had decided to resign and submit her resignation in the Speaker’s format.
Soon after meeting the Chief Minister, Ms. Sucharita said she had not submitted resignation but the media misinterpreted her statement. She said that she would continue to stay loyal to family of Mr. Jagan and vowed to work for the welfare of her party cadre in her constituency.
