Widespread rain across Ramanathapuram district since Wednesday evening resulted in the district administration declaring a holiday for schools on Thursday.
Rameswaram recorded 76.20 mm rainfall, Pamban: 42.10 and Thangachimadam 30.50 mm and among other locations, during the last 24 hours ending 6 a.m. on Thursday, Public Works Department officials said.
Meanwhile, District Collector Shankar Lal Kumawat presided over a review meeting in which multiple department officials participated.

The festival will also take place in various cities across Karnataka including Tumakuru, Ramanagara, Mandya, Kolar, Chikkaballapura, Hassan, Chitradurga, Davangere, Chamarajanagar and Mysuru.
