Protest against job losses in West Bengal, candidates demand action from CM Mamata Banerjee, march to Nabanna planned.
As the future of almost 26,000 candidates hang in the balance after Supreme Court order scrapped their employment, job aspirations from across West Bengal have called for a march to Nabanna (State secretariate) on April 21 to protest against the unemployment crisis in the State.
Under the banner of West Bengal deprived job seekers and job holders, the group called for immediate action against the rising unemployment crisis in the State. This comes as the Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is all set to meet all the people who lost their jobs to hear their plight on April 7. The candidates are looking forward to the meeting.

An aggrieved candidate who has lost his job during this crisis said, “Who is the CM going to hold talks with? Will it only include deserving candidates or also include the underserving candidates whose corruption led to this issue in the first place?” They also said that they will all attend the meeting but also insisted that the CM should have stood by them from day one and not when the ultimatum was given by the Supreme Court.
A job aspirant from the group who has given the call for Nabanna march said that if the CM so desired she could have intervened and offered jobs to many as there are many vacancies in the State.
“Whenever we protest, they arrest us, beat us up. If she cannot offer us the rightful jobs which we are supposed to get because we passed the exams, then she should declare that these panels have been cancelled,” the aspirant further added.
Some of the candidates and teachers who lost their jobs after the SC order went to meet senior Trinamool Congress leader and former MP Kunal Ghosh. They interacted with the ruling party leader but refused to speak and said they will only speak after they meet the CM on April 7.
