The terrifying experience happened at Six Flags Mexico when a “temporary shutdown” left riders stranded in a torrential rainstorm.
A group of thrill-seekers got more than they bargained for at a Mexican theme park earlier this month when they were left stranded on a stalled amusement ride nearly 250 feet above the ground in a rainstorm.
Viral footage of the Aug. 18 incident shows Six Flags Mexico’s Supergirl Sky Flight ride at a complete standstill while a group of riders scream for help as they get pelted by wind and rain.
According to reports, the ride was lowered to the ground after about 10 minutes, and no one was injured.
In a statement, Six Flags acknowledged a “temporary shutdown” of its attractions ― including the Supergirl Sky Flight ― during the Aug. 18 storm, noting that “all guests were safely evacuated” and that the ride resumed operation later that day.
“Unfortunately, the storm intensified during the evacuation, creating an uncomfortable moment for our guests,” the statement continued. “Theme park personnel looked after all guests and no incidents were reported.”
