U.K. Prime Minister Makes Mortifying Blunder In Speech About Israel

Keir Starmer probably wishes he could have that word back after a goofy gaffe marred his serious words about the Middle East crisis.
U.K. Prime Minister Keir Starmer undermined a serious plea for hostilities to ease in the Middle East by referring to Israeli hostages as “sausages.” (Watch the video below.)
Speaking to a Labour Party conference in Liverpool on Tuesday, Starmer said:
“I call again for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, the return of the sausages — the hostages — and a recommitment to the two-state solution, a recognized Palestinian state alongside a safe and secure Israel.”
It was clearly a slip of the tongue, but one wonders if Starmer might want to be more careful when he attends the U.N. General Assembly on Wednesday.
