Out of all the things Lt. Col. James H. Harvey III could have asked for in life, all he wanted was recognition for a military win that went ignored during his time of service.
Harvey’s participation and win are now acknowledged alongside his teammates – Capt. Alva Temple (301st Fighter Squadron), 1st Lt. Harry Stewart Jr. (100th Fighter Squadron) and alternate member 1st Lt. Halbert Alexander (99th Fighter Squadron) – were etched onto a recognition plaque, which went up above their trophy displayed at the Nellis Air Force Base in Las Vegas on Jan. 13, 2022.
"It started in the first quarter of 1949," Harvey told Fox News Digital, during a video call. "The chief of staff of the newly formed United States Air Force, so the [request] went out to all the fighter groups in the U.S. [that] there were to have weapons competitions between each fighter group, and between each squadron and age group, and between each pilot and each fighter squad."
