The Greater Chennai City Traffic Police (GCTP) will implement traffic diversions near Madhya Kailash Junction on Rajiv Gandhi Salai on a trial basis from Sunday (December 22, 2024), owing to the ongoing bridge construction work at the junction.
According to the new plan, vehicles coming from Adyar towards Guindy will be diverted towards Rajiv Gandhi Salai, also known as OMR. Those vehicles will be allowed to proceed 400 meters on OMR and take a U-turn in front of CPT Polytechnic College, Taramani, towards CPT Junction, to reach their destination.
There is no diversion with respect to vehicles coming from Guindy towards Adyar or OMR. MTC buses coming from OMR towards Guindy will be allowed to drop passengers on a designated separate lane at the rear side of Madhya Kailash Temple.
This modification aims to reduce waiting time at CPT Junction, ensuring smooth traffic flow and minimising congestion, said the GCTP.
