Toronto police are searching for a 29-year-old man — a husband and a father — who has been missing since he left his east end home more than a week ago.
Andrew Sutton was last seen on Sunday, Feb. 16 in the area of Danforth and Coxwell Avenues shortly before 5 a.m., police said in a Feb. 17 news release.
"Andrew remains missing at this time, and we understand the concern this brings to the community," Const. Cindy Chung, spokesperson for the Toronto police, said in an email on Monday.
"Our officers are actively investigating, conducting ground searches, following up on leads, and keeping Andrew's family informed."
Police said they have not set up a command post. If police determine that a command post is needed, then one will be set up, police said.
Maddison Sutton, his wife, said in an interview with CBC Toronto on Monday that her husband may be having a mental health crisis and she is worried for his safety. The couple has an 18-month-old daughter, Daisy.
Andrew, originally from Barrie, works as a bartender at The Keg Mansion, she said. He was due at work on Feb. 16 at 6 p.m. but did not show up for work.
"I'm not doing well. Not well at all," Maddison said. "I'm trying to get through this, but I miss him so much and I just want him home."
Before Andrew left the home, Maddison said the couple had an argument at 4:50 a.m. that Sunday. She declined to elaborate on the nature of the argument, saying it is a family matter.
Maddison said Andrew told her that he was going to his sister's house, but he never showed up. Since he left, his phone has been turned off and no transactions have been made on his debit or credit cards. None of his extended family members have heard from him, she said.
Maddison said police told her Andrew was last spotted in the area of Danforth and Broadview avenues on the morning of Feb. 16. She also said police had searched under the Prince Edward Viaduct with police dogs and that there has been no trace of him. Police have not confirmed this sighting with CBC Toronto.
Maddison said Andrew's abrupt departure is out of character for him and that he has never left before.
"He's an amazing person. He's a great dad. He's funny, he's really loving. Everyone that meets him will say he's the nicest guy. He'll go out of his way to do anything for Daisy and I."
His disappearance has been hard on Daisy too, she said.
