Test drive: The Toyota GR 86 is a sports car survivor
Fox News
The 2022 Toyota GR 86 is an updated version of a car that first went on sale in 2013 as the Scion FR-S. The two-door coupe is scheduled to go on sale this November with a starting price below $30,000.
It’s never been a big seller, but has persevered in part because Toyota CEO Akio Toyoda is a performance car fanatic who understands the value of having cars like it and the rebooted GR Supra in the lineup. Aside from the Subaru BRZ that it shares its chassis with and the Mazda MX-5 Miata, there really aren’t any true affordable sports cars like it left. The GR is a reference to Toyota’s motorsports arm, Gazoo Racing, which is coming off of its fourth-straight 24 Hours of Le Mans win, and is a clear signal that the car has been taken up a notch.More Related News
