Telangana DCA uncovers ₹1.33 crore antibiotics seizure at Jodas Expoim for false labeling and unauthorized packing.
Officials from the Telangana Drugs Control Administration (DCA) raided a drug manufacturing facility ‘Jodas Expoim Private Limited’ in Biotech Park, Karkapatla of Siddipet District of Telangana, on Tuesday (November 26, 2024) and uncovered antibiotics worth ₹1.33 crore in the company’s finished goods warehouse. The seizure was made for exporting products manufactured by other pharmaceutical companies to Russia falsely under their own name and for unauthorised packing of antibiotics.
The seized antibiotics were found to be falsely labeled, with misleading claims about their manufacturing origin. According to officials, the antibiotics, including injections and various formulations, were falsely labelled as products of Jodas Expoim Private Limited’s facility in Indore, Madhya Pradesh. However, investigations revealed that the actual manufacturer was Indian Genomix Private Limited, based in Cherlapally, Medchal-Malkajgiri District, Telangana.
Among the stocks were several antibiotics, including Amoxicillin 1000 mg + Clavulanic Acid 200 mg, Ampicillin + Sulbactam 2000 mg + 1000 mg, and Meropenem 500 mg. DCA officials found that these formulations, manufactured by other pharmaceutical companies, were also exported falsely under Jodas Expoim’s name in October and November 2024.
Further scrutiny revealed unauthorised packing of antibiotics at the facility, violating the provisions of the Drugs and Cosmetics Act, 1940. Samples of the seized antibiotics have been sent for analysis, and investigations are ongoing, stated a release.
