Nima Momeni, 40, was convicted by a San Francisco jury in the fatal stabbing of Bob Lee, a well-known tech executive.
A tech consultant was convicted on Tuesday of second-degree murder in the death of Bob Lee, the wealthy founder of Cash App who was killed last year in a slaying that inflamed tensions over the safety of San Francisco streets after the pandemic.
The consultant, Nima Momeni, 40, avoided first-degree murder charges, but now faces a sentence of 16 years to life in prison for the killing. Mr. Momeni did not appear to have any reaction to the reading of the verdict. Dozens of Mr. Lee’s friends and family members attended the court hearing and said they planned to spend the day together, sharing memories about Mr. Lee.
“We’re happy with the verdict,” said Mr. Lee’s brother, Oliver Lee. “He’s going to be in jail for a long time. Now we can start healing.”
He stood beside his brother’s former wife, Krista Lee, and their father, Richard Lee, who embraced as they teared up. Ms. Lee said she was “very happy” there was a guilty verdict and that she was relieved the daily courtroom visits were finally over.
“Bob was here with us today for sure,” she said. “I can feel him.”
Tony Brass, one of Mr. Momeni’s attorneys, said he intended to file an appeal.
