Stephen Colbert Spots Trump's 'Kinda Weird' White House Confession

The "Late Show" host found an odd moment as the president's answer to a question about tariffs took an unexpected turn.
“Late Show” host Stephen Colbert said President Donald Trump delivered a “kinda weird” answer to a question about the extensive tariffs kicking in this week.
Trump said he would be “very nice” and “very kind” with his tariffs, then went on an extended riff on the subject.
“Somebody said that about me the other day, who doesn’t know me very well,” Trump recounted. “They said, ‘you’re such a kind person.’ And I said, ‘say that again.’ They said, ‘you’re a kind person.’ I said, ‘I’ve never heard that before.’”
Colbert broke out his Trump impression to describe what the president may have heard before instead.
“I’ve heard a lot, never heard ‘kind,’” Colbert said in his Trump voice. “I’ve heard, ‘selfish a-hole.’ I’ve heard, ‘demented sack of garbage.’ I’ve heard, ‘syphilitic sociopath who never got love from his father.’ And all of those were from Melania.”
