The "Late Show" host found a story of disaster that is also a miracle.
“Late Show” host Stephen Colbert said the news is so grim right now that it’s been a struggle to find the “light” stories he and his team like to feature at the top of the show.
“Things are messed up out there. Do you want to know how messed up things are?” he asked. “The lightest story in the news is a plane crash. Everyone survived, though. That’s why it’s light.”
He said it wasn’t just “light” but a “miracle” given that the plane burst into flames and flipped over as it landed in Toronto.
“Remember the good old days when it was just doors flying off the thing?” he asked. “I miss that.”
All 80 people aboard DL 4819 from Minneapolis to Toronto survived Monday’s crash, although 21 were injured and two remain in the hospital with injuries that Reuters described as not life-threatening.
