SS Rajamouli's SSMB29 promises a visually stunning jungle adventure starring Mahesh Babu, Priyanka Chopra, and Prithviraj Sukumaran.
SS Rajamouli is set to push boundaries once more with SSMB29, an ambitious jungle adventure starring Mahesh Babu. The film also marks Priyanka Chopra’s return to Indian cinema and features Prithviraj Sukumaran as the antagonist.
Set against the backdrop of the spiritual city of Kashi, the film looks to blend Indian history with mythological undertones. According to reports, Kashi plays a crucial role in the story. Due to logistical challenges, the filmmakers are constructing massive sets in Hyderabad to recreate the ancient city’s grandeur.
Known for his visual storytelling, Rajamouli, is adopting a hybrid filming approach, combining real forest locations with intricately designed sets replicating India’s landscapes. The film is looking to deliver a journey through dense jungles, serene rivers, and hidden caves, with locations in India and Africa being scouted to enhance its scale.
While Mahesh Babu and Prithviraj have already begun shooting, Priyanka Chopra just joined the team in Odisha, where key forest sequences are being filmed. This collaboration marks her anticipated return to Indian cinema and her first project with Rajamouli.
Currently in production, SSMB29 is expected to be a landmark film. The official announcement is expected soon, with a planned Summer 2027 release.
Meanwhile, Prithviraj Sukumaran is also preparing for the release of his upcoming directorial venture, L2: Empuraan, starring Mohanlal, set to hit theaters on March 27.
