Experts speak on opportunities in the field of AI and cybersecurity

As part of its career guidance series in association with The Hindu, the SRM Institute of Science and Technology (SRMIST), Chennai, hosted two webinars on Friday. The first was on ‘How AI is changing the technology perspective from learning to jobs under COVID-19’. Dr. R. Annie Uthra, associate professor, School of Computing, SRMIST, began by discussing the prospects of AI in automation, learning and business, and how it has been used during the pandemic. She also highlighted the increasing job opportunities for AI and ML (Machine Learning) engineers in various sectors. Shweta Khurana, director, APJ Global Partnerships and Initiatives, Intel, spoke about the future of work. “Data is the new oil,” she said and emphasised the changes in work tasks, the workforce, and the growing AI skills crisis. She spoke of digital readiness and the need to empower youth with AI technology and social skills in an inclusive way for current and future jobs.
