Slow-moving MLB free-agent market frustrating players: ‘Insane’
NY Post
With less than a month before players begin reporting to spring training, the market is still moving like molasses. If fans are frustrated by the ultra-slow pace, imagine how free agents feel.
No less than 156 players who logged MLB time in 2024 still seek work, and while about 60-70 eventually will land guaranteed MLB deals, the wait can be unbearable.
One agent called the market “ridiculous.”
One free agent called it simply “terrible.”
We might as well start talking about this now. As early as next Tuesday, it’s at least possible that Carlos Beltran will earn the 75 percent of the vote necessary to gain entrance to the Hall of Fame. And when that happens — if not now, then some year soon — it’s going to be a most interesting thing to watch how Mets fans react.
