Disturbing video of migrant worker's body being dragged leads to arrest of six workers at Shree Cement Company.
The police arrested six people on Wednesday morning, after a disturbing video of a body of a 35-year-old migrant from Bihar being dragged by a group of workers on Shree Cement Company premises near Kodla village in Sedam taluk of Kalaburagi district surfaced.
The 1.18 minutes video, which has triggered public outrage, shows six workers dragging Chandan’s body. A group of workers is seen following them, witnessing the inhumane act.
Superintendent of Police Adduru Srinivasalu speaking to the media confirmed that the police have registered a suo motu case against six workers identified as Hyder Ali, Ajay, Ravishankar, Harinder, Ramesh Chandra and Akhilesh.
These six have been remanded in judicial custody, he added.
The victim, identified as Chandan Singh, a migrant worker from Bihar, reportedly died on Tuesday while working at Shree Cement Company in Kodla village.
According to sources in the factory, Chandan died of a heart attack while working and the doctor who examined him noted that the worker died due to low blood pressure.
However, the exact cause of his death is yet to be determined.
