The police said the injured workers were admitted to the Government Rajaji Hospital and the engineer to a private hospital.
The work was being executed by the State Highways Department.
According to police sources, the work for the construction of the deck between pillars 8 and 9 of the additional arm from Goripalayam junction to Palam Station Road was underway when scores of iron scaffolding erected to hold the concrete structure collapsed at around 11 p.m.
The Sellur Police are investigating the case.
