Robert F. Kennedy Jr. said Monday that Donald Trump’s camp has already asked him to play an important role should the former president reclaim the White House in November. (Watch the video below.)
“I’ve been asked to go on to the transition team to help pick the people who will be running the government and I am looking forward to that,” Kennedy told Tucker Carlson on his show on X, formerly Twitter.
Kennedy suspended his independent bid for president last week and endorsed Trump. Reuters reported Monday that, according to a super PAC, the political scion wanted to trade his support for Trump for a job if the Republican nominee beats Democrat Kamala Harris.
In his long chat with former Fox News host Carlson, Kennedy also said he was “gonna work to get [Trump] elected” and that he and Trump’s people were “working on policy issues together.”
According to Axios, Trump tapped his oldest sons, Donald Trump Jr. and Eric Trump, to be honorary chairs of the transition team to vet the loyalty of potential staff.
"I think it would be very devastating for me and for him to meet his first child behind a glass screen," his wife, who is eight months pregnant, told Reuters.
The president would have likely "gotten very upset" had a Democrat done it, the New York Times journalist told CNN's Anderson Cooper.
