Residents warned of 'flood watch' along Lake Erie coast

A "flood watch" has been issued by Kettle Creek Conservation Authority (KCCA), warning residents along the Lake Erie coast of heavy winds and rain.
According to Environment Canada, Elgin and Norfolk counties alone are expected to get 20 to 30 millimetres of rain with 70 to 90 km/h winds.
"Watershed areas that receive higher rainfall amounts have a heightened risk for flash and localized flooding," KCCA said in a press release.
"In addition, heavy rainfall has the potential to cause overland flow and scouring of fields, ponding in low-lying areas, roadways and agricultural fields, and minor flooding into natural floodplain areas and parks that traditionally flood in the spring."
The weather starts on the evening of Dec. 5 and carries until the evening of Dec. 6.
