Reporter's Notebook: Israel-Hamas war continues on deadly day for Israel, but its 'determination remains'

Fox News spent time at the Zikim military base on the northern Gaza border on Tuesday, discussing Israel's war against Hamas with Israeli Defense Forces majors.

We watched for several hours as troops steadily streamed toward and away from the battle. They rode in pumped-up, open-top Humvees that sometimes made them look more like extras in a "Mad Max" movie.   Greg Palkot currently serves as a London-based senior foreign affairs correspondent for Fox News Channel (FNC). The ones going in also rode side-by-side in troop carrier trucks. They seemed more tentative. The ones on the way out looked relieved that they were getting a break from some of the worst urban combat in decades. Some gave us the thumbs up.  Many looked pretty young. Enlisted and reserve soldiers in the mix.
