A total of 18.5 mm of rainfall was recorded in Dindigul district on Monday, including 1 mm in Kamatchipuram. Showers of 17.5 mm were recorded in Dindigul.
Office-goers, school and college students faced difficulties travelling through the inundated areas of Palani Bypass road in Dindigul, Round road, Nahal Nagar, Nehruji nagar roundabout and N.G.O. Colony on Tiruchi Road, Balakrishnapuram, R.M. Colony.
The Dindigul Corporation premises had rainwater stagnating without passage to drain out.
Heavy showers accompanied by thunderstorms, in a few areas, began by the early hours on Monday and light spells continued until late in the evening. The continuous spell lasted two hours from 7.45 a.m. to 9.30 a.m.
Though heavy showers lashed Dindigul, rural pockets received minimal rain much to the disappointment of the farmers.
