Qatar’s industrial sector PPI rises by 87.2% year-on-year in September

Doha: The overall monthly Producer Price Index (PPI) of Qatar’s industrial sector for September 2021 was estimated at 78.8 points, showing an increase of 87.2 percent when compared to the PPI of the corresponding month last year (September 2020), supported by the significant rise in various sectors, especially the mining sector.
It also recorded a monthly increase of 4.4 percent, compared to August 2021, official data released by the Planning and Statistics Authority (PSA) showed. The “Mining” sector PPI recorded an increase of 5.2 percent when compared with the PPI of August 2021, due to the increase in prices of crude oil and natural gas group by the same percentage.
The stone, clay and gravel group also increased by 2.6 percent, while the value of the index of this group increased by 102.2 percent on an annual basis (compared to September 2020). The “Manufacturing” sector recorded a monthly increase of 2.8 percent as a result of a rise in seven groups, most notably petroleum refining products by 3.9 percent, cement and other non-metallic products by 2.0 percent, and basic chemicals by 1.9 percent.
