President Biden to travel to Puerto Rico and Florida in aftermath of Fiona, Ian
CBSN
President Biden and First Lady Jill Biden will travel to Puerto Rico and Florida next week in the wake of the destruction left by Hurricanes Fiona and Ian, the White House announced Saturday. They will first travel to Puerto Rico on Monday, followed by a trip to Florida on Wednesday.
No details were immediately provided on either trip.
On Sept. 18, Fiona struck Puerto Rico as a Category 1 hurricane, causing devastating damage and leaving a large swath of the island without power or running water.
An American Airlines jet with 60 passengers and four crew members aboard collided with an Army helicopter Wednesday night while coming in for a landing at Ronald Reagan National Airport near Washington. The Black Hawk helicopter was carrying a crew of three. Officials said early Thursday that everyone on board both aircraft is believed dead, which would make it the deadliest U.S. air crash in nearly a quarter century.
