Washington — President Trump is addressing the public Thursday morning in the aftermath of the plane crash in the Potomac River in Washington, D.C. The collision of a regional jet and a U.S. Army helicopter late Wednesday was the first major commercial plane crash in the U.S. in more than a decade.
The president is slated to brief reporters in the White House press briefing room beginning at 11 a.m. ET.
The briefing comes after an American Airlines plane that took off from Wichita, Kansas, with 60 passengers and four crew members on board collided Wednesday night with an Army Black Hawk helicopter carrying three soldiers near Reagan National Airport in Washington, D.C.
An American Airlines jet with 60 passengers and four crew members aboard collided with an Army helicopter Wednesday night while coming in for a landing at Ronald Reagan National Airport near Washington. The Black Hawk helicopter was carrying a crew of three. Officials said early Thursday that everyone on board both aircraft is believed dead, which would make it the deadliest U.S. air crash in nearly a quarter century.
