The official trailer for One Battle After Another, Paul Thomas Anderson’s highly anticipated new film, has finally arrived, giving us a chaotic first look at Leonardo DiCaprio in his first collaboration with the acclaimed director.
The film follows DiCaprio as Bob Ferguson, an eccentric revolutionary attempting to rescue his daughter. In the trailer, Bob, looking scruffy in a beanie and bathrobe, fumbles through a payphone call to his mysterious allies, struggling to remember their secret codewords. Benicio del Toro co-stars as Bob’s mentor, who teaches him to live without fear — by shoving him out of a moving car. The clip builds to an explosive finale with DiCaprio screaming, “Viva la revolución!” as he and del Toro charge into battle.
Joining DiCaprio and del Toro is a star-studded ensemble, including Regina Hall, Teyana Taylor, Sean Penn, Alana Haim, Wood Harris, Shayna McHayle, and Chase Infiniti. Anderson wrote and produced the film alongside Sara Murphy and the late Adam Somner. Shot on 35mm film with VistaVision cameras, One Battle After Another filmed primarily in California, with additional scenes shot in El Paso, Texas.
With an estimated budget reaching $140 million, One Battle After Another is Anderson’s most expensive project to date. The film marks DiCaprio’s return to the big screen following Killers of the Flower Moon, while Anderson continues his Oscar-nominated streak after Licorice Pizza.
One Battle After Another is set to hit theaters on September 26, with Imax screenings planned.
