Parneet Kaur shines with two gold medals and a bronze in National archery championships, showcasing her brilliance.
Compound archer Parneet Kaur displayed her brilliance to claim two gold medals and a bronze in the National archery championships at the Gopal Maidan here on Thursday.
Parneet, a women’s team gold medallist in the World championships and Asian Games, shot good scores to help Punjab, also comprising Avneet Kaur and Asmat, take the women’s bronze medal. She also secured the mixed team gold with Uday Kamboj and her maiden individual crown to record her best showing.
Even as individual finals were shifted to different targets at the last moment to finish the action before sunset, the 19-year-old maintained her focus and scored perfect 30s in first and third ends while beating Srishti Singh 146-142 in the final.
“I stay prepared for challenges. Happy with my performance,” said Parneet, the ranking round topper.
Even without proper warm-up, Abhishek Verma scored 30s in the last two ends to defeat Kamboj 147-145 for the men’s individual gold.
In recurve, Paris Olympics team-mates Deepika Kumari and Ankita Bhakat survived a shoot-off apiece to set up a women’s individual summit clash.
B. Dhiraj reached the men’s final, while top-ranked Neeraj Chauhan and Atanu Das got eliminated prior to the quarterfinals.
