Mysterious 'doomsday fish' shocks beachgoers as it approaches shallow waters
Fox News
The oarfish, commonly referred to as the "doomsday fish," was captured on video as it approached beachgoers at Playa El Quemado in Mexico. It's rare to see the species in shallow waters.
"The fish swam straight at us, lifting its head above the water about two inches," Robert Hayes, the beachgoer who recorded the fish, told Storyful. Sydney Borchers is a lifestyle production assistant with Fox News Digital.
"We redirected it three times out to the water, but it came back each time."
