Doha: Qatar’s Cherif Younousse and Ahmed Tijan settled for a the bronze medal in the 2024 Beach Pro Tour Finals while Tokyo Olympic champions Anders Mol and Christian Sorum clinched the Doha title at Aspire Zone yesterday.
The top seeds and home favourites Younousse and Tijan defeated Stefan Boermans and Yorick de Groot of the Netherlands in a gripping three-set battle, earning a 2-1 (18-21, 21-15, 17-15) win to secure the third place.
Later, in a battle between two Olympic champion pairs, the Tokyo Games gold winners prevailed over the Paris 2024 victors, overcoming the FIVB World Ranking leaders David Ahman and Jonatan Hellvig of Sweden in straight sets (21-18, 22-20).
Kristen Nuss and Taryn Kloth secured the women’s title, triumphing over Terese Cannon and Megan Kraft in an all American final with a scoreline of 21-19, 21-17.
