Public hearing held on the government proposal to merge 25 villages with Tiruchi Corporation
Acceptance from certain quarters, stiff opposition, dissenting notes and demonstrations marked the public hearing held here on Tuesday on the government’s proposal to merge the village panchayats in the peripheries of the city with Tiruchi Corporation.
Collector S. Sivarasu, who had earlier held separate meetings with panchayat presidents of the 25 villages proposed to be merged with Tiruchi Corporation and the presidents of the villages that were to be merged with Lalgudi and Musiri a few days ago, presided over the public hearing.
